Samsung Starts Taking Pre-Order For Gear S Smartwatch in India

One of the first smartwatches to support independent voice calling feature was unveiled by Samsung at the pre-IFA 2014 tech show, back in September this year. Dubbed as the Gear S, the new smartwatch with the SIM card slot was announced in India last month at Rs. 28,900. However, the South Korean tech giant didn't make it available then.

Anyways, not to worry, now Samsung has started taking pre-orders for the smartwatch in the sub-continent via its official eStore. You can thus pre-book the device by paying just Rs. 1,000. The Samsung Gear S comes in Blue Black and White colors.

Samsung Gear S: Key Specification

The Samsung Gear S sports a 2 inch (360 x 480 pixels) Super AMOLED Curved display. It is powered by a 1 GHz Dual-Core processor coupled with a 512MB RAM. It runs on Tizen based wearable platform and houses 4GB internal memory.

Since there is a SIM card slot in the device, the device is capable of making 2G and 3G calls as well via Bluetooth. The intelligent watch comes with a IP67 Certification and thus it is dust and water resistant.

Connectivity options include WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS/Glonass and features S Health and Heart Rate sensor.

Other hardware includes Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Ambient Light, UV, Barometer and it is powered by a 300mAh Li-ion battery that promises up to 2 days of battery life.

It will be delivered in 3 to 5 business days once the order is complete. Samsung says that you need to purchase the smartwatch by November 10th, otherwise the pre-booking amount will not be refunded.
