Samsung, the world's largest smartphone manufacturer made all the heads turn towards the successor of S2 – Galaxy S3, when launched in May 2012 and now, all the tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting to witness the launch of Galaxy Note 2, which will be shortly announced by the company later today at the IFA event in Berlin.

But, what about the Galaxy S2? The best smartphone of 2011! It might seem like Samsung has completely forgotten about the handset, but the Korean giant hasn't. Samsung will unveil a limited Crystal edition of the Galaxy S2, mainly targeting the professional women consumer base.

According to SamMobile, the Crystal Edition will feature a back cover clad in white leather with 129 Swarovski crystals. The other features and specifications of the smartphone will remain the same.

Specifications

Besides the crystal and leather exterior, it will be the same Galaxy S2 with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. S2 is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal memory along with a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB.

The handset has an 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 1650 mAh Li-ion battery. Moreover, Galaxy S2 is flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Price & Availability

Samsung is expected to unveil the Crystal edition of Galaxy S2 at IFA 2012 in Berlin and release it in the global market, sometime around October. The handset is assumed to be priced at € 599 (approx. Rs 42,000).
