It wasn't too long ago when the Galaxy S5 got an unexpected price cut in India. With the Galaxy S5 price dropped down under Rs. 40,000 now, it seems that Samsung might have plans to launch a premium version of the Galaxy S5 in the country.

Although it hasn't been confirmed by official sources, but the upgraded version of the Galaxy S5 is now official in Netherlands. It is called the Galaxy S5 Plus (G901F).

Samsung Unleashes Galaxy S5 Plus With Snapdragon 805 CPU

On Tuesday, Samsung has quietly launched an upgraded version of the Galaxy S5. As of now, the phone is available only in Netherlands.

The original Galaxy S5 launched in April this year offers a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor. However, the Plus variant is stuffed with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor. That means this is one of the fastest Android handset available in the market. Notably, the device has the same internal processor as the Galaxy Note 4 and the Google Nexus 6.

However, Samsung has slightly downclocked the 805 chipset in the S5 Plus compared to the Note 4 and Nexus 6 and its four cores each run at 2.5GHz rather than 2.7GHz. Otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is identical to the Galaxy S5.

The Galaxy S5 Plus comes with a 5.1-inch FHD display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 16MP rear-facing camera and the same 2880mAh battery. Naturally, the phone is IP67 certified.

The Galaxy S5 now has improved 4G LTE performance when compared to the original Galaxy S5. This device has a potential to download data (300mps) at much faster speed. In comparison the S5 supports 150Mbps downloads. The Galaxy S5 Plus is a bit of surprise ahead of the crucial holiday shopping season.

There's no information yet available whether Samsung has any plans to launch the Galaxy S5 Plus in other parts of the world, including India.

For the reminder, Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 LTE-A in its native market back in June. The handset packed a quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU, a 2K resolution display and 3GB of RAM. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates!
