Samsung Wise 2: Basic Flip Phone Launched in South Korea

Samsung has rolled out yet another basic clamshell phone, the Samsung Wise 2 which is to be available only in Korea and unlikely to be released in other parts of the world. This might be for the best since the flip phone is not very appealing due to the absence of a smartphone operating system.

It is merely a basic feature phone targeted at people who are not tech savvy or senior citizens, facilitating basic texting and calling options. It has a notification feature which sends SMS to recipients whose names have already been preset in the phone, if the user has not used the phone for a period of time.

Samsung Wise 2 features a pair of LCD screens with the internal one sized 3 inches with (240 x 400 pixel) WQVGA resolution while the external one is sized 2.2 inches with (240 x 320) QVGA resolution. Samsung Wise II also has a 3 MP camera, FM Radio, Bluetooth and support for T-DMB mobile TV. The wide keypad of the phone offers convenience to the users. Samsung Wise II will be sold by SK Telecom at a price of 400,000 won (Rs. 19,500 approx.) which is comparatively a steep price for a phone with such a few features.

The feature phone is available only in metallic blue color with a weight of 128 grams and dimensions 106.7 x 52.8 x 15.3 mm. Further, Samsung Wise 2 is equipped with a 1000 mAh battery which provides juice for the phone for 280 minutes talk time as well as a standby time of 220 hours.
