At the CES 2013, Sony introduced their latest wave of smartphones - Xperia Z and Xperia ZL to compete with the glut of Android handsets sustaining in the global market.
But now it seems that the Japanese tech giant is all set to take over market charge from South Korean conqueror Samsung this year. Already, in 2012, Sony came up with a slew of mid range smartphones under its Xperia series and gave a tough sales competition to Samsung offerings in the same segment. And now with MWC 2013 on the horizon the manufacturer seems to be preparing its biggest rivals to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, Premier, Express and more.
This can be said, as recently, a new smartphone dubbed as Sony C5303 HuaShan has surfaced online via leaked pictures posted by the folks at PhoneArena.
What About Features?
As per the report, a German forum site USP-Forum.de has leaked the pictures of HuaShan in full glory. Though, there can be no conclusion from pictures, however, one of the images show the About page of the handset revealing the model number C5303 and the handset to be running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Moreover, XperiaBlog has pointed out that Sony C5303 is a part of the rumored C530X smartphone lineup, which also includes C5302 and C5306. Also, it claims that C5303 HuaShan is the LTE variant of the lineup.
Analyzing the leaked images, HuaShan appears to feature a side power button similar to the one on Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z. Moreover, the handset has a strange, metallic strip on the bottom bezel, front and back panels.
Also, the report states that the handset has a compact body with on-screen navigational buttons and thick chassis (hinting at water resistance).
Going by an earlier leaked benchmark result, C5303 HuaShan sports an HD 720p display, 1.7GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8960T Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, which is a chipset for the China Mobile network, Adreno 320 graphics processor and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. As of now, the other specs of C5303 HuaShan remain to be a mystery.
To beat the sales of Samsung's sizzling smartphones, Sony upcoming flagship smartphones, apart from decent specs will also have to incorporate a lot of software features to stand against Samsung S features like S Beam, Smart Play and more, which are now also available in the former's budget offerings.
It can be said that after Sony cut off its Ericsson ties, the manufacturer has come out to be a powerful Android competitor in the handset market, however, things will be made crystal clear at the Mobile World Congress 2013 event in Barcelona, when the manufacturer will launch its new range of handsets. Hope the tech world will get to hear about more Xperia successors soon and their likes to smash their direct rival Samsung Galaxy handsets.
