Sony Ericsson making most advanced new windows smartphones
There is a lot going on with Sony Ericsson lately. The main media attention is focused on the fact that Sony and Ericsson are going to part their ways in the middle of this year. But before the process it seems like they are in a hurry to launch many new models as their joined venture. Some of the phones that are going to be out this year beginning itself were showcased during the Consumer electronics show.
More than a year back that is at some time during 2010 there was news about a new cutting edge phone that Sony Ericsson was working on. The notable thing was that the phone was speculated to be working on Windows phone. This Sony Ericsson project was code named as Julie.
The phone was rumoured to have a 4 inch display and powered by a single core 1 GHz processor. Even some of the pictures of the phone were released that showed a sleek slider phone with a full QWERTY keypad. But unfortunately the phone didn’t see the daylight. There were many reasons for this involving both technical and economic issues. But sadly all these problems led to discontinuing that project and the very much expected Sony Ericsson Windows phone was boxed.
Some 18 months later after the details of Julie was obtained, it seems like Sony Ericsson has another Windows device up its sleeve. There is some picture of a claimed new Sony Ericsson phones having Windows operating system has been put up in the net. Not much of the specs and details of the phones are known besides the fact that they are Windows devices. From the picture what we can decipher considering its thickness and design is that the phone is made in slider form factor. So probably it will have a QWERTY keypad beneath its screen.
The confusion is that sometime before Sony Ericsson Company officials have said that they won’t be launching anymore phones based on Microsoft’s Windows operating system since they are going to concentrate on the Android segment. So these pictures raise suspicions. One possibility is that these pictures may be some undiscovered ones belonging to the original Julie handset. But that claim also cannot be backed up as for now.
One important point that the site claims is that this phone is working on Windows phone 7.5 operating system. If that is true we can assume that some work has been done on the previous model. Thus everyone is waiting for the official disclosures from the company.
