Sony Ericsson Txt, Xperia Ray & Xperia Active : New Launches
Ericsson announced the launch of 3 phones and of which 2 were Smartphone"s. The Third one was actually kind of a feature phone that complements a previously listed phone by Sony Ericsson. The Smartphone"s were Xperia Ray and Xperia Active. The 3rd one was christened Sony Ericsson Txt.
The exact price for these models was not revealed by Sony Ericsson but some estimates were obtained. The Txt will a base cost model. The Xperia Ray will cost around Rs 30,000 in India market while the phone could not be obtained but Sony indicated that it would be below 30K.
The Xperia Ray is similar to the Xperia X10 in more ways than one. It also has some Xperia Arc elements in it. The looks of the phone is similar to that of Xperia Arc with some cosmetic tweaks and newly aligned menu buttons. Dimensionally the phone is thinner and smaller than the X10. The phone is also lightweight and weighs in at just around 100 grams. The Xperia Ray has an 8 Mega Pixel camera, scratch resistant full touch screen display and the Sony Ericsson Timescape UI. It has a colour choice of four colours. The phone is powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is expected to be on the lighter side of charge consumption.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Active on the other hand has a sporty look and feel. It has a 3 inch scratch resistant touch screen display that is even sensitive to wet fingers or at least that is what Sony Ericsson boasts about it. The Xperia Active is water resistant and can withstand up to 30 minutes under 1 m of water. The Xperia Active is also dustproof. Besides these the phone packs in GPS, Bluetooth and barometer which makes it best suited to athletes and sprinters. It even has a Wrist strap.
The Sony Ericsson Txt is aimed for the Social media based crowd. The phone has a 2.6 inch screen and a physical QWERTY keypad along with an SMS shortcut key. The Sony Ericsson Txt has an interesting app called Friends that allows users to receive updates and notifications form their favourite Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter for up to 5 friends. The Sony Ericsson Txt has Wi-Fi connectivity besides having Bluetooth and other multimedia specs.
All the 3 phones are expected to be made available to users by Sony Ericsson by the end of 2011. However there is no final word on the pricing of these 3 models yet.
