Japanese giant Sony is prepping a dedicated camera phone currently dubbed as Honami i1. With Samsung already announced Galaxy S4 Zoom and Nokia gearing up to announce EOS on July 11; Sony has Honami i1 in store for us. The handset has been in the limelight for a long time. The makers behind PlayStation 4 are yet to approve media claims in regards to Cyber-shot branded handset.
Sony is always known for quality products. Its cyber-shot brand is primarily known for camera sensors. According to media reports, the forthcoming Honami i1 phone will reportedly carry 20-mega pixel Exmor R camera sensor. The alleged specifications have recently surfaced on the web. Sony's Kaz Hirai believes in "One Sony" plan. It is said that Sony is really interested in making a complete device with Cyber-shot optics and Walkman like sound quality. Although, company's latest flagship handset - Xperia Z has succeeded in making Sony among the privileged tech vendors still the device has many loop holes attached to it.
Svartling.net has apparently got its hands on the alleged image of so-called Honami device. The image has been blurred to hide the identity. But it raises several questions about its existence. The report further says that the device gives you an option to change the lens (Interchangeable lens). There are hints of Cyber-shot UI as well. The device will have a 5-inch Full HD display powered by X-reality engine, 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 2/3" 20/13 MP Exmor RS camera with Sony G lens along with shutter key, Xenon flash plus dual LED lights, NFC, a front facing camera with 1080p Full HD recording , dual speakers, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There is a mention of brand new Xperia UI, 4G LTE, tough shatter proof glass on the front, water and dustproof, among other features.
Earlier in the month of May at Xperia Tablet Z launch a senior executive clearly told us that no such device is in the making. Here is an expert dated May 30.
" GizBot was curious to know from Sony - why the company is so reluctant by not using Walkman and Cyber-shot names on the device itself? While, conversing, we connected this instance with the alleged Xperia i1 Honami which has been floating in the tech rumor world lately. Relative, the inside source over at Sony clearly informed that Walkman and Cybershot are integral part of Sony. The company is making devices under Xperia brand to promote ‘One Sony' strategy. So, in the future also the upcoming device would carry Xperia brand only. Hence, it seems that according to rumors, the the 20MP camera phone which Sony might be prepping to tackle Samsung Galaxy 4 Zoom; won't carry Cybershot branding on the top."
