Sony Invites for Flagship Device Launch On June 25: Will it Be Togari Phablet or Xperia Z Successor?

If you log into official IFA Berlin website, you will see only 91 days are left for the event to kick off. Relatively, Sony certainly has plans to announce something great at the upcoming show later this year.One could see the coming of much hyped Togari tablet either at IFA Berlin or CES 2014. Later in the afternoon, a brand new rumor in regards to Sony's first phablet surfaced. According to a report by VR Zone, the Japanese phone maker has planned to announce Xperia ZU or Togari phablet on June 25. The rumor came in line with the latest Sony event invites out in the media world for a Germany event on June 25.

So, by this month the cat will be out of bag. The venue is Berlin, Germany. The report further sheds light on the rumored specs of so-called Xperia ZU. The device will have a 6.44-inch 1080p Full HD Triluminos color display powered by X-Reality engine.

Talking about the camera, it won't come with traditional 13MP sensor instead Sony has opted for an 8MP camera module. Again like many other new age Xperia smartphone, this very handset will be water -proof. It is also said that the Sony Xperia ZU will be seen using Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.

Last month, GizBot did an exclusive story around Sony's upcoming "large sized handset". At Sony Xperia Tablet Z event, a senior executive disclosed that they have plans to announce Samsung Galaxy Note 3 competitor either at IFA Berlin or CES 2014. Here is an excerpt dated May 30, 2013.

The previous report quoted, "the company source close to the matter told GizBot that the Sony is working on a device with bigger display. Obviously, the source was reluctant to share this info, but later told us that there is a handset with extra large display. It's in a prototype form at the moment. It should be announced either at IFA Berlin 2013 or CES 2014."

Many of you missed out on another big reveal that was told to GizBot by same senior executive at Sony India. The senior official of Sony India had told GizBot on the launch of Xperia Tablet Z that Sony will announce another flagship device on the lines of Xperia Z sometime Q3 or Q4. The Xperia Z made its debut on CES 2013.
So, logically by July- August, the Xperia Z would be 6 months old. Consequently, Sony needs another flagship device to beat Samsung Galaxy S4 to in order to win.

Interestingly, June 25 announcement seems fit to announce Sony's next big thing. And lastly, Sony has no plans to announce Xperia Z Mini any time soon. The reveal was made during our interaction at the time of Xperia Tablet Z launch in India. Here is an excerpt dated May 30, 2013.

"This is not end to the conversation, as the executive dished out at possible Xperia Z sequel. Yes, the source also disclosed that Sony has plans to announce another high end flagship device around Q3. The smartphone will be on a premium side. The Sony executive didn't say whether another Xperia Z variant is being under production or not. But one thing is clear the upcoming handset will be known as Sony's next flagship device."
