Sony has had a great in India so far, thanks to its Xperia range of smartphones. While the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are believed to be getting successors in the first half of 2015, the tech giant may announced the sequel to the Xperia E1 as well.

Recent reports speculate the arrival of the Xperia E1 II soon. GSMArena states that the Xperia E1 II will be a low budget phone with a high resolution display as compared to the Xperia E1. The upcoming Xperia E1 II smartphone is expected to sport a 4-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. This means the handset will have the same screen size as its predecessor but comes with a higher resolution display.

Sony Xperia E1 II will be equipped with a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of native storage. This smartphone will run on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

At the same time, the device will come with an upgraded 5MP rear-facing camera, alongside a 2MP front-facing shooter.

Sony makes brilliant handsets. The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact redefined handset design. However, Sony has unable to make its mark in the entry-level segment, currently dominated by the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola and Micromax.

There's no official announcement of the Xperia E1 II yet. However, media reports state that the device could be priced at par with the original version. It seems like Sony's forthcoming Xperia E1 II would be pitted against Samsung's Z1, a low priced smartphone with average specifications.
