Sony Launches Xperia E1 and T2 Ultra Smartphones With Android 4.3 And Dual SIM Variants

Japanese smartphone maker who has already impressed its fans with a massive 21MP camera phone Sony Xperia Z1in 2013 has recently announced its new budget friendly handset called the Xperia E1.

The phone has also been launched by the company in a dual SIM variant, however the price of the handsets have no been disclosed so far and even the market availability are not known as yet.

"Xperia E1 combines the best of Sony's audio technologies with a premium design and great hardware to create a smartphone for people who want to express themselves out loud." said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.

Sony Xperia E1 - Key Specifications

Sony Xperia E1 comes with a 4-inch WVGA display offering a resolution of 800×480 pixels. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8210 dual-core processor coupled with a 512MB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system.

The smartphone sports a 3MP rear camera but fails to have a front facing shooter which was not anticipated at all. However, the Xperia E1 houses 4GB of internal storage capacity which can be enhanced up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

The 3G smartphone measures 118 x 62.4 x 12 mm and weighs 120 grams. The connectivity options include GLONASS, aGPS and Bluetooth 4.0.

The device which comes in Black, White, Purple color variant and is powered by a 1700 mAh battery.

Sony's brand new launch, the Xperia E1 is its latest entrant into the mid range segment. Aimed at competing in the entry level, budget segment, the Xperia E1 is the successor to the fairly popular Xperia E that was launched last year.

The dual SIM variant of the handset also comes with a same specs and the only addition in the device is an extra SIM card slot.

Other Features

An interesting feature that Sony is plugging here is xLoud and a rated 100Db speaker. Sony claims that its ClearAudio+ and xLoud technologies will be able to deliver crystal clear audio even at very high volumes. The phone also comes with a dedicated Walkman key and hardware controls for easy music control.

Along with Xperia E1 and E1 Dual, the budget friendly smartphones, Sony has also announced recently two mid range smartphones - the Xperia T2 Ultra and its dual SIM variant, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual.

Xperia T2 Ultra and Dual - Key Specifications

Targeted at the Asian markets, the handsets boast a 6 inch HD TRILUMINOS Display along with X-Reality picture engine offering a resolution of 720 x 1080 pixels. They are powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8928 for LTE and MSM8228 for 3G) processor with Adreno 305 GPU coupled with 1GB RAM and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) OS.

Both the Xperia T2 Ultra and the T2 Ultra Dual sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, LED flash and 1080p video recording and a 1.1-megapixel HD front-facing camera with Sony Exmor R sensor.

The devices house 8GB internal storage capacity which can be expanded up to 32GB expandable memory via microSD card. Connectivity options include 4G LTE / 3G HSPA+, WiFi 820.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-X, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC as well. While the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual comes with an optional Dual SIM slot.

The smartphones are powered by a 3000mAh battery which comes with a STAMINA mode.

The phone has 73.6% screen-to-body ratio with smaller bezels. The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra dual lets users set up both SIM cards independently with custom ring tones and one-touch switching between SIMs. It lets users can keep both SIMs active at all times - so you can talk on one SIM, and still receive calls on the other.

Very much like Sony's other smartphones, these new devices also come in Black, White and Purple color variants.

The company has not spoken formally regarding the price and availability of the devices as of now.

Talking about the competition, the handset will be coming up against Nokia's recently launched Lumia 1320 which comes with a similar 6 inch HD display.
