Sony Xperia Neo smartphone model to get a successor
Sony & Ericsson's joint venture has resulted in the introduction of many magnificent mobile phone models. But in 2012 the companies are going to part ways. No mobile phones will come under the Sony Ericsson combined branding after that, even though the companies will be marketing mobile handsets and associated devices under their respective labels. But very recently Sony Ericsson has launched a new model and it appears as if the company has plans to launch some more devices before the split.
The new model is code named as pepper and will belong to the Sony Ericsson Xperia line up of phones. The model number of the new model is given as MT271i. The news about this new model came up in the Xperia blog. Some pictures of the same are also posted in the blog. This device is said to be a successor to Sony Ericsson’s very successful model Xperia Neo.
Some specifications of the phone are also posted in the blog. The phone is expected to feature a 3.7 inch display having a resolution of 400 x 854 pixels. This is not the high end display that you may come across but can sure be expected to get the job done. The phone will have ST-Ericsson Nove Thor U 8500 chipset and will be powered by a dual core 1.2 GHz processor. The gadget will come with dual cameras. The main camera is to have a resolution of about 5 mega pixels and will be enabled with video recording features.
The camera will be able to record 720p videos. The front facing camera will be of VGA or higher resolutions and is mainly intended for video calling. The device might be powered by a 1320mAh battery. This will give it enough talk time as well as stand by time.
This phone will probably make it entry during the consumer electronics show which is going to be held next week. There are no chances that it will have Android Ice Cream Sandwich as for now but will get this as an update later on in time.
For the time being it might have Android 2.2 operating system. There is also a distant possibility that during the time of launch of this phone it may come under the Sony branding only due to the split up. But if this is going to happen then this phone has to be released some time after June. No exact release date or a price quote for the device is available now.
