Sony Xperia SL now official: How is it Different from the Predecessor?

While Samsung and HTC have already stolen a lot of the limelight with a lot of buzz surrounding their latest Android handset launches, Japanese phone manufacturer Sony went against the blazing strategy and has silently unwrapped the sucessor of  Xperia S smartphone – the Sony Xperia SL. The smartphone is now listed on Sony’s website with a “coming soon” sticker and the website is also showing a full list of specs for the device, as well as images.

While industry observers are pointing that the new handset is not much an improvement from its predecessor, however the company has claimed that the next flagship model has a faster processor – it has a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, versus the Xperia S’s 1.5 GHz.

Key Specs

When it comes to other major specs of the smartphone, Sony Xperia SL will come packed with 4.3-inch  scratch-resistant TFT display touting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Further, the  144 gram handset will also include 27.8GB of internal storage, 1GB RAM, FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth, NFC and 12.1-megapixel camera, are the same as that of Xperia S. Regarding the operating system, the device will run on android 4.0 ICS operating system.

Moreover, Sony Xperia SL will be loaded by a battery capable of supporting up to 8 hours and 30 minutes of talktime and 420 hours of standby time. The music listening time supported by the handset is given as 25 hours where as the video playback time is given as 6 hours and 30 minutes.

No price quotes and availability details have been provided by the company so far, however SL will hit the stores in four colors — silver, black, white and pink.
