Last month, the tech media world got the first official sighting of the Sony Xperia SL – the refreshed version of the company’s current smartphone flagship, when the company website published the official page of the smartphone as a pre-IFA reveal stunt. Why are we talking about this Xperia phone? The recent newsbreak: the Sony Xperia SL has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 30,999.
The Xperia SL handset is available for purchase from popular online stores like Infibeam and Flipkart. The flagship device has got 32 GB of flash memory and up to 26 GB of user accessible memory. The device has a RAM capacity of 1GB.Sony has released this device without much media hype and it is quite clear that Sony doesn’t want this device to affect the sales of recently announced Xperia T, V and J models.
Top Features
Sony Xperia SL features a decently powerful dual core Scorpion CPU clocked at 1.7 MHz. But the most notable feature of the device is the presence of 12.1 MP camera which is capable of recording high definition videos at 1080p.The camera features auto focus, 16x digital zoom and LED flash.
Xperia SL is powered by Android 4.0 operating system which is a clear upgrade from Android 2.3 OS used in Xperia S. The operating system in Xperia SL can be upgraded to Android 4.1 according to user’s preferences.
Another notable feature of this device is the presence of a 4.3 inched HD screen which Sony claims to have the highest pixel density than any smartphone released so far by the company. Sony also adds that the device has the sharpest screen among all phones available in the market today. All standard connectivity features are present in the device including Wi-Fi hotspot functionality and HDMI support.
Moreover, Sony has also incorporated a walkman application on the phone to enhance music playback. The inbuilt application has features like manual equalizer and surrounds sound effect.
Competition
Lately, the Japanese phone maker has been making a lot of news these days in the mobile space, especially, with its Xperia series. With so many recent launches, it seems the company is all geared up to pose a serious threat to dominating players in the market including Apple, Samsung, HTC and others.
The successor of Xperia S – Sony Xperia SL definitely appears to be a powerful contender combined with a stylish sense and is basically a director competitor to handsets like Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC One S and One V.
