Sony Mobile has announced the launch of Xperia SP and Xperia L - a mid-range and an entry-level smartphones.
Sony has been long rumored to launch a couple of smartphones - Xperia SP and Xperia L on March 18, 2013. Following on the same lines, the company announced the smartphone duo without much fanfare. Xperia SP is a better offering in the duo and it looks like it is meant to be a downsized alternative to Xperia Z.
Display: Xperia SP packs a 4.6 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and Xperia L houses a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution.
Further, the HD display in Xperia SP is a Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and hence, it will offer better clarity and excellent color reproduction.
Processor: Xperia SP has a 1.7GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor and Xperia L is equipped with a 1GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor.
Operating System: Both the smartphones run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating systems.
Camera: Xperia SP and Xperia L come with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and Exmor RS technology and a VGA front camera for video calling.
Storage: Both smartphones come with 8GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB.
Connectivity: Xperia SP and Xperia L come with connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and NFC.
Battery: Xperia SP is loaded with a 2,370 mAh battery and Xperia L comes with a 1,750 mAh battery.
Price & Availability
As of now there is no official word regarding the price of these new smartphones, but, they will be released in Q2 2013 claims the company press release.
