It is learnt that Sony is prepping "Google Edition' Xperia Z. Major players including Samsung and HTC have already announced their stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean flagships. Android Geeks reports that an anonymous source from Sony confirmed the existence of Google Edition Xperia Z. It will be announced sometime in July. After the split from Ericsson, Sony is trying to build its own identity in crowded handset market. If the rumor of Google Edition Xperia Z is true then there is a fair chance to see Sony back in game.
Earlier last month, a senior executive over at Sony told GizBot that no Nexus handset has been planned as of now. The executive didn't tell us whether Google Edition Xperia Z, if they are planning, is coming to India in the near future or not. Well, for a time being it is to be seen what Sony is cooking in its R&D labs. There are chances to see Xperia Z Google Edition come loaded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It is constantly being said that the software giant might announce v4.3 Jelly Bean on June 10. Incidentally, Apple is all set to announce iOS 7 on June 10 during the opening ceremony of WWDC.
For a fading brand like Sony, the success of Xperia Z made the device maker back in fashion. The company is yet to reveal how many Xperia Z actually shifted in the last few months. But industry's leading analysts believe that the high-end handset sold in big numbers. On May 30, GizBot did a story around Xperia Z sequel. At the Xperia Tablet Z held at New Delhi on May 30, a high-profile executive shared number of juicy information in context to Togari phablet, and a mysterious flagship device to arrive sometime Q3 or Q4.
The Sony Xperia Z packs a 5-inch Full HD display, quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-mega pixel camera , front facing camera with 720p video recording, NFC, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 16GB of internal ROM, microUSB port , among others.
