"Everything is about to change" is mentioned in the teaser posted by Sony India on its Facebook page and an inside source as confirmed it to be none other than the flagship smartphone - Xperia Z with a 1080p display. Japanese tech giant Sony will be broadcasting the Xperia Z launch event scheduled to happen on March 6 in New Delhi via webcast.
Sony has not only sent out invites to the tech media in the country, but has also posted a countdown timer on its official website hinting that Bollywood Actor Katrina Kaif, who is the brand ambassador of Xperia lineup will be launching Xperia Z.
When it comes to the pricing and availability of Xperia Z, though there is no official word confirming these details, the inside source has tipped Gizbot that the handset will be available for online pre-order from the launch date and on the retail stores from the next week. According to speculations, Xperia Z is estimated to be priced in the range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000.
To have a recap of the specs, Xperia Z packs a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 13MP rear camera, 2.2MP front camera for video calling, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and a 2,330 mAh Li-Ion battery.
If Xperia Z lands in India at the estimated price range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000, the handset could become a premium priced smartphone similar to Apple iPhone 5 and HTC Butterfly. IPhone 5 is priced at Rs 45,500, Rs 52,500 and Rs 59,500 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants respectively. At the same time, Butterfly is priced at Rs 45,999 in the nation.

Comparing the specs, iPhone 5 may not have Retina display, but, it has a 4 inch display with 1136 x 640 pixel resolution and 326 ppi pixel density. However, Xperia Z with a 440 ppi display could easily knockout the Apple offering.
