Sony Xperia Z, ZL India Launch: Final Spec Rundown of Smartphones Spotted Online for Pre Order

    Sony will be broadcasting the Xperia Z India launch event today via webcast beginning at around 12.30 pm in New Delhi. Well, its only an hour left for the launch and Xperia Z and ZL have been spotted on Flipkart for pre-order.

    The Japanese tech firm has already sent out invites to the tech media and is also running a countdown timer on its website hinting at the time left for the launch of the flagship smartphone.


    So far, there was no confirmation on the pricing of Xperia Z expect for the information provided by the inside source that it will be priced between Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000. However, now, the handset has been spotted on Flipkart, an online retailer site for pre-order at Rs 38,990. At the same time, Xperia ZL is also listed for pre-order on the same website at Rs 35,990. The listings show that the handsets ordered will be shipped from the third week of the month.

    Xperia Z and Xperia ZL - Spec Rundown

    Below are the specifications of Xperia Z and Xperia ZL. Lets have a look at them below.

    Dimesions & Weight: Xperia Z measures 139 x 71 x 7.9 mm in dimensions and weighs in at 140 grams, making it a lightweight offering considering its huge display. At the same time, Xperia ZL carries a dimension of 131 x 69.3 x 9.8 mm and weighs around 151 grams.

    Display: The handsets come with a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, which offers excellent viewing experience alongside superior clarity and brightness.

    Processor: In this segment, Xperia Z and ZL come with a quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor for effective multi-tasking and efficient performance.


    Operating System: Both the handsets come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box. Hence, it will come loaded with features including Project Butter, improved Android notifications, high resolution contact photos, live wallpapers, Google Now and more.

    Camera: The handsets have a 13MP rear camera and a 2.2MP front camera for video calling. The camera is equipped with Exmor RS rear camera, which has capacibilities as Sony digital cameras. Also, HDR (High Dynamic Range) support gives clear images against strong backlight enabling users to capture sharp pictures and videos.

    Storage: In terms of storage, Xperia Z and ZL come with 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

    Connectivity: When it comes to data connectivity, both Xperia Z and Xperia ZL come packed with features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE.

    Battery: Xperia Z is powered by a 2,330 mAh battery, while Xperia ZL is loaded with a 2,370 mAh battery that offer better backup with Battery Stamina Mode. This feature is claimed to improve the standby time by four times or more by automatically shutting down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is off and starting them up again when the screen is back on.

    Wondering about the difference between the two smartphones? Xperia ZL is heavier than Xperia Z, which could be due to its slightly larger battery of 2,370 mAh as compared to the 2,330 mAh of Xperia Z. Apart from this, Xperia Z is water resistance and dust proof with IP55/57 certificate, while its counterpart is not. Further, Xperia ZL has infrared/IrDA functionality, that will allow users to control the TV, cable box or any IR enabled entertainment device using the smartphone.
