Sony Xperia Z1 Launched with 20.7MP Camera: Top 5 Cool Features

    Sony Corp. Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai has announced the most awaited smartphone - Xperia Z1 at the ongoing IFA Berlin tech show. The Sony Xperia Z1 had been in the center stage for quite some time. Since past few months, Sony has tried every possible PR strategy to create buzz around the phone.

    The device is a premium big-ticket smartphone and won't cost less than a bomb, when arrives in the Indian market in the coming days. Sony says the Xperia Z1 is a blend of content and hardware. The Japanese giant has been a front runner in the hardware designing since early 1980s.


    The Sony Xperia Z1 is the official name of company's flagship device. Hirai also announced external camera lenses as well as accessories made for Xperia Z1. No word on the release date or price was communicated during the event. However, Sony does mention that the global roll out begins starting September 2013.

    "Xperia Z1 represents a significant milestone for Sony in our continued efforts to deliver unforgettable experiences to our consumers," said Kunimasa Suzuki, President and CEO, Sony Mobile Communications. "Not only by bringing the power of Sony to the smartphone and through close collaboration with our partners but by setting a new standard in premium smartphones."

    Sony says the Xperia Z1 is a premium waterproof phone backed by company's best rated hardware and software capabilities. Hirai did not link Xperia Z1 with "One Sony "strategy, but it certainly the smartphone with the best of Sony. The biggest highlight of getting Sony Xperia Z1 has to its camera. The Xperia Z1 features a 20.7-mega pixel camera sensor ducked inside with "Sony's award-winning "G Lens" with a 27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture, custom made large 1/2.3-type CMOS image sensor Exmor RS for mobile a BIONZ for mobile image processing engine".

    The camera is apt for taking images in the low light as well. Sony claims the Xperia Z1 comes with the best mobile camera experience in such a compact frame. Moreover, Sony also announced four applications to be included inside the device. Social life is a name of app that let you broadcast your thought on Facebook instantly. With Info-eye, you can search for the nearest information on any items, simply by capturing them.

    Timeshift Burst mode let you take as many as 61 images in just 2 seconds. AReffect let you take images using Sony's famed Smart ARTM augmented reality technology. During the unveiling, Sony also announced that developers are fee to make more third-party apps for Xperia Camera apps, however, the tech vendor did not clarified  whether other Xperia handsets are getting this new user interface  or not. Few days back, Nokia had introduced Smart Camera app for major Lumia handsets powered by Windows Phone 8.

    The Xperia Z1 is a lifestyle device for high-net individuals. The phone is stuffed with decent specifications. The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with a 5-inch Full HD display powered by Sony's Triluminos technology and X-Reality engine. The device has a 2.2-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor quad core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM (expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card). The makers have added a 3000mAh Li Ion battery.

    Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. The camera is insanely powerful with 20.7MP camera shooter at the back. The handset has all the basic connectivity features that you need in a powerful smartphone. The Xperia Z1 will be available in three colors: Black, White and Purple.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box with Xperia layer on the top of it.


    To complete the package, Sony is offering new accessories matching with Xperia Z1. There are two external camera lenses - QX10/QX100. On the other hand, consumers can also purchase Sony's latest SmartWatch 2. Moreover, SBH52 Smart Bluetooth Handset, MDR-10BT NFC headphones and SRS-BTS50 wireless speaker are  also available for your entertainment.
