Sony has finally launched its latest flagship device - the Xperia Z3 in India today at the price of Rs. 51,990. It will be available in India in Black, White, Green and Copper color variants. The smartphone was announced earlier this month at the IFA 2014 trade fair in Berlin.

Sony has in fact become the second smartphone maker to announce its latest flagship device in India after HTC which just announced its Desire 820 just a couple of days ago.

All the top tier smartphone makers are quite interested in launching their devices within the two weeks from now in India. SInce the festive season is kicking off in India, the sales of these devices might catch some pace at the initial phase itself. However, since most of the tech giants are launching their devices at the same time, it is quite sure that the rivalry will be cut throat.

As far as the devices, which are going to be launched in India in these two weeks are concerned, they are Huawei Honor 6, BlackBerry Passport, and Lenovo Vibe X2. If you are wondering about Samsung, the Galaxy note 4 will take some time to arrive.

Anyways, coming back to Xperia Z3, the device's design is very much similar to the predecessors. Hardly any difference can be noticed between the Xperia Z2 and the Z3. However, there are some difference in the internal hardware composition. Anyways, let's take a look at the specs of the handset first.

Sony Xperia Z3: Key Specifications

The Xperia Z3 sports a 5.2-inch display offering a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The display is powered by company's Triluminos Display for mobile and X-Reality for mobile picture engine.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU with 4G LTE modem and Adreno 330 GPU. Sony is also offering 3GB RAM for swift multi-tasking operation. It runs on Google's Android 4.4 (Kitkat) OS.

One of the most highlighted features of the smartphone is the 20.7 MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash while at the front you will get to see a 2.2 MP front-facing snapper.

The smartphone comes with a 16GB on board storage, however, it can be expanded up to 128 GB using microSD slot. Connectivity options include: 4G LTE, aGPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA, NFC, Native USB tethering Synchronisation, USB High speed 2.0 and Micro USB support, Wi-Fi and WiFi Hotspot.

The Sony Xperia Z3 draws its energy from a 3100 mAh battery. According to Sony, the battery pack will offer talk time up to 19 hours, standby time of up to 740 hours.

One of the major highlights of the Sony Xperia Z3 is the camera and its feature. The 20.7 megapixel camera with auto focus also brings in the use of 8x digital zoom, ISO 3200 maximum in manual mode, Sony Exmor RS for mobile image sensor and 4K video recording. The device is extremely capable of taking excellent pictures.

Another great feature of the phone is that it is dust and water resistant. It is needless to say, but all Xperia Z smartphones come with the same build quality.

Moreover, Sony has also introduced PS4 Remote Play that lets you use the phone as a remote screen to connect to and control your games on PS4. It has 4G LTE connectivity, including support for TD-LTE band 40 for India.
