For those wishing to buy a mid-range smartphone at reasonable prices, Sony Xperia U proves to be the perfect candidate. It was recently seen that the Android phone sells at Rs. 12,500 at tradus.com.

 

First unveiled at the prestigious Mobile World Congress, this phone is part of Xperia NXT series from Sony Mobile. The company claims this series to be the highlight of its connected experience. Using the technology incorporated, users can share content on any screen they wish to, be it smartphone, tablet, PC or TV. The design is an attractive one, with a transparent element at the base of the smartphone which integrates antenna components.

Xperia U has a Reality Display of 8.9 cm along with Mobile Bravia engine and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has a 5 MP camera at the rear coupled with HD recording of 720p, xLoud along with 3D surround, capture capability of 2D as well as 3D panorama images and dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz. The phones are available in black or white, with exchangeable yellow and pink caps for the base of the phone.

Sony Xperia U had recently got an upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) from Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It is soon expected to be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It has been reported that insiders have let out information that Xperia Sola, P and Go will also get the Jelly Bean upgrade along with XperiaU in December itself. However, the upgrade will not be immediately available to Indian users. Sony had announced the availability of its Xperia P, Sola and U in India sometime in May.
