Spice Stellar 509: 5 Inch Quad Core Smartphone Launched at Rs 7,999

The year 2014 seems to be turning out an incredible period for low budget phones. While players like Motorola have found success in this affordable segment, on the other hand, Spice aims to following the the footsteps of Micromax with a new handset under the Stellar series.

Domestic vendor Spice has launched a brand new handset, the Stellar 509, at Rs. 7,999 in Indian market. The handset will be made available via e-commerce website, HomeShop18.

Spice Stellar 509 - Highlighted Specifications

The Spice Stellar 509 features a 5-inch IPS display having a resolution of 480x854 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of on-board memory, which can be later expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. The handset runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.

The device incorporates an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with single LED flash, while there is a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The makers have added a 2000mAh battery fitted inside. The handset preloaded with some apps such as Spice Cloud, Opera Mini, OLX, Getit, and Greetzap.

Other connectivity options include: Wi-Fi, 3G, Dual SIM, FM Radio, GPS, A-GPS , among others.

Lava Iris X1 - A Big rival to Spice Stellar 509

Earlier in the day, Lava introduced the Iris X1 in Indian market at Rs. 7,999. The Iris X1 will be available Online exclusively on Amazon.in from 27th May. Talking about the spec sheet, the X1 comes with the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out-of-the-box. The phone has a 4.5-inch FWVGA IPS (854 x 480 pixels) display, a 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Broadcom BCM23550 processor, 1GB RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 1.4 µm pixel BSI+ sensor, 4GB of internal memory, a micro-SD card, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0 BLE (Bluetooth low energy), micro-USB and EDGE, and the 1800mAh battery fitted inside.
