In in the last year, almost all the India based handset vendors including Spice Mobiles were quite busy in launching a spree of handsets into the market at different price points.

Spice Mobiles, who recently launched a smartphone and tablet - Stellar Virtuoso and Stellar Pad is now in the headlines for its entry-level handset - Stellar Xtacy Mi-352. The handset has been spotted on online retailer site Saholic.com.
After launching Android ICS based devices including the ones mentioned above, Spice has come up with a dual SIM Gingerbread based smartphone.

When it comes to specifications, Mi-352 houses a 3.5 inch TFT LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels, 1GHz Qualcomm MSM7225AB processor, 512MB internal storage, 256MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 2MP rear camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,300 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 3.5 hours talk time and 9 days of standby.

From the specs, it can be said that Spice has targeted the first time smartphone users with the Stellar Xtacy.
Though it might look too outdated to have a Gingerbread smartphone, Spice is not the only company to come up with such offerings in India. Almost all the main native manufacturers including Micromax, Karbonn, Intex, Lava and several others are also launching such entry-level smartphones at budget price points. Not only local vendors, but also Samsung - the world's largest smartphone manufacturer has also launched a plethora of such handsets.

As Spice is constantly pushing in a lot of models into the smartphone segment of the country, it is clear that the company is aiming to secure the position of a leading handset vendor in India. Samsung's Galaxy Y lineup of smartphones are quite famous and Galaxy Y Duos Lite is the cheapest among all. The handsets packs a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixel resolution, 832MHz processor, 2GB internal memory, 2MP rear camera, micro SD card supporting up to 32GB and 1,200 mAh Li-ion battery.

Running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, Galaxy Y Duos Lite is priced at Rs 6,790. Though the handset is priced higher than Stellar Xtacy Mi352, it comes with increased internal storage, however, the latter has a slightly larger display and a better battery backup.

Smarty A30 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The handset sports a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, 832MHz processor, 2MP rear camera, 256MB RAM, micro SD card supporting up to 32G expandable storage, 512MB internal storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 1,500 mAh battery.

Priced at Rs 3,849, the Micromax offering comes with a lesser price tag as compared to Mi-352, however, the latter has a faster processor and larger display.

Intex launched Aqua Trendy, a Gingerbread based smartphone featuring a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, 3.2MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a 2,100 mAh battery.

Priced at Rs 4,999, Aqua Trendy has a similar specifications as the Spice offering and comes with an improved battery backup. Hence, it can be said that the Intex smartphone is a hard hitting challenger to the same.

Lava Iris N350 features a standard 3.5 inch screen display size supporting an average resolution of 320 x 480 pixels ensuring decent multimedia experience for users. The phone is based on Android 2.3.6 and runs on a 1GHz processor. Lava Iris n350 does not support 3G connectivity, but, it has WiFi and Bluetooth. It also comes with a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera for video calling.

The handset is priced at Rs 4,499 and comes with similar specifications as Stellar Xtacy. Hence, both could be potential rivals to one another in the low cost smartphone market segment.

As far as specifications are concerned, A5+ sports a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, 1GHz single core processor, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS, 3.5MP rear camera, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, and 1,420 mAh Li-ion battery.

Priced at Rs 4,899, the Karbonn offering could be a stiff competitor to the Spice offering with a similar price tag and specifications.
