While smartphones are effectively divided into two primary eco-systems in recent times -- Android and iOS (with the Windows Phone also gaining momentum as the third one), it's important to note that each of the devices in either of the segment are divided by their versions of operating system.

When the OS first arrived with the likes of Nexus 5 previously, not everyone could afford to invest on the device due to its heavy price tag.
