This week was a pretty busy one for the Indian handset market. A couple of smartphones were launched keeping India in mind. Tech giants like Samsung, Lenovo and BlackBerry made major announcements.

 

The week, began on a positive note with Samsung finally getting into the entry-level market, currently dominated by the likes of Xiaomi, Motorola and Micromax.

Top 10 Smartphones That Were Launched in India This Week

The South Korean giant launched its first ever Tizen-operated smartphone in India. In fact, it was a world debut of sorts. Priced at Rs. 5,700, the Samsung Z1 will be marketed aggressively in coming days to come.

Another major player, Lenovo, strategically unveiled India's cheapest 4G LTE-enabled handset in the country. Originally announced at CES 2015, the Lenovo A6000 is going to be an exclusive to Flipkart. Priced at Rs. 7,000, the Lenovo A6000 is expected to give tough competition to the likes of Micromax Yu Yureka and Xiaomi Redmi 1S.

Another big-ticket device that BlackBerry launched was the Samsung Galaxy S5 rival - the Classic. The device offers great business features at a price of Rs. 31,990.

All these handsets made their Indian debut during the time, when the global handset market has registered slower growth than expected. That's why most of these firms are betting on India.

During the end of 2014, the Chinese handset had unveiled the R5 smartphone for Indian users. The Android-powered device, which is priced at Rs. 29,990 had been made available for pre-booking from 1st January.

Oppo R5, which comes with a path breaking design, is now available across India starting today, the company said. The R5, as you may already be aware, measures just 4.85 mm in thickness, making it one of the slimmest handset to date.
