WeChat 2.0 For BlackBerry Gets Updated: Look Around and QR Code Scanning Features Added

WeChat, a social communications service has announced new Location-based features for BlackBerry users. The new version of WeChat for BlackBerry is said to come with ‘Look Around' and QR code scanning feature, which is said to make it easier for users to add new friends or acquaintances. Users can now search for other WeChat users in the surrounding area, with a simple push of a button. Also, users can add friends by scanning the QR code on their friends' phone screen.

WeChat also added Animated Emoticons, allowing users to express themselves, in conversations. Mr. Dennis Hau, Head of International Product Center, International Business Group, describes the concept behind BlackBerry 2.0: "We designed the new Blackberry version for the purpose of providing a fun social communication platform for Blackberry but in the process, we have not compromised when it came to the user experience and performance stability which is what WeChat is known for."

For those of you who don't know WeChat is - it is a social communications platform designed for smartphone, which allows users to send free text, voice messages, emoticons, picture, and other files. It also allows users video-chat, add new friends through its social features, utilize location-based services, and share their stories through the unique ‘Moments' feature in the form of photos, video and URL links. WeChat can be downloaded free of charge for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Symbian devices
