Xiaomi Becomes Third Biggest Smartphone Vendor in The World
After coming up with the hit over hit devices since the beginning of this year, Xiaomi faced a bit of a problem with the complaints regarding the security issues in India. However, despite the criticisms, Xiaomi has apparently emerged as the new star in the smartphone world.
The Chinese company is now the third largest smartphone vendor, just behind Samsung and Apple, according to a latest report by the market research firm IDC. This is the first time Xiaomi has jumped into the Top 5 list.

IDC states that, "Key to its success was the launch of its Mi4 smartphone in August, which was positioned as a high-end alternative to the status quo. What remains to be seen is how quickly the company can move beyond its home territories to drive volumes higher."

According to the research firm, smartphone shipments during the third quarter of 2014 summed up at 327.6 million units, resulting in 25.2% growth when compared to the 261.7 million units shipped in 3Q 2013 and 8.7% sequential growth above the 301.3 million units shipped in 2Q 2014.
"Despite rumours of a slowing market, smartphone shipments continue to see record-setting volumes," said Ryan Reith, Program Director with IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
Xiaomi has achieved a lot over the past one year. With regards to the Indian market, the flash sale scheme followed by the company has made its every device the most booked handset in the country. The Xiaomi Mi3 which features a 2013 flagship specs which was being offered in India at the price of Rs. 14,000 was a super-hit device.
The next was the Redmi 1S which is still doing wonders for the company. Te next big thing would be the Xiaomi Mi4 which the company has confirmed to launch later this year by December.
