Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S announced: Specifications, price, features, and more

Meet the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, which is now official with a dual-camera setup at its rear and the company’s own voice assistant.

As assured, Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi Mix 2S smartphone at an event in China. This new smartphone appears to be quite similar to its predecessor, the Mi Mix 2 in terms of looks and feel especially at the front. However, it does pack in a lot of improvements. The Mi Mix 2S has been announced in three variants based on RAM and storage capacity. Unlike the previous reports, there isn't any notch on the display as the iPhone X.

On the specifications front, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is fitted with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under its hood, the smartphone makes use of an octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with Adreno 630 GPU. While this is the first smartphone in China to arrive with the most powerful Qualcomm processor, Xiaomi has revealed that the device scored 277,178 points on the AnTuTu benchmark database.

Mi Mix 2S camera

For imaging, the Mi Mix 2S comes with a dual-camera setup at its rear with a 12MP wide-angle lens and another 12MP telephoto lens. There are features such as Portrait Mode, 4-axis OIS, hardware-level multi-frame noise reduction, optical zoom, dual-pixel autofocus, and AI-based scene detection. This camera has a Sony IMX363 sensor and f/1.8 aperture, which is touted to be able to let in 25% more light. At the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera (at the bottom bezel as in its predecessor) and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Other features

The smartphone also comes with Face Unlock and Xiaomi's own voice assistant called Xiao. Running Android Oreo based MIUI 9, the smartphone comes with Google ARCore, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, NFC and other common aspects. A 3400mAh battery powers the smartphone from within. The smartphone has support for wireless charging and there is a USB Type-C port at the bottom.

Variants and pricing

The base variant comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space and is priced at RMB 3299 (approx. Rs. 34,200). The mid-variant has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space and carries a price point of RMB 3599 (approx. rs. 37,300). The high-end variant of Mi Mix 2S comes with 8GB RAM and a whopping storage capacity of 256GB and is the most expensive one among the three costing RMB 3999 (approx. Rs. 41,400). Notably, the high-end variant of Mi Mix 2S will be bundled with a free Mi wireless charging priced at RMB 99 (approx. Rs. 1,000).
