Xiaomi Mi5 Expected to Launch on January 15
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi has teased the launch of Xiaomi's new flagship device, via his official Weibo account. The message says, ""There's no better way to start 2015 than with our newest products" said Lei Jun via the official Xiaomi Weibo page (translated)." The smartphone which is going to be released is speculated as the successor of Mi4 - the Mi 5.
Xiaomi also released two images, where one image shows the date of launch embossed in the middle with a tag line saying "Xiaomi New Flagship Launch" and another with a hand showing a thin gap, which clearly represent the sleek form factor. According to the report, the launch event and press conference is taking place at the Beijing National Convention Center on January 15 at 2 PM.
Moreover, in the MIUI blog, Xiaomi teased "New Flagship Device? What does it look like? What is it as thin as cicada's wings?."
According to the leaked report, the specifications of the Mi 5 is said to sport a 5.7-inch Quad-HD display with a resolution 1440x2560 pixels, a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor alongwith 3GB of RAM and a 20.7MP rear camera.
According to the official report, the company sold over 61.2 million units last year(2014) which is three times compared to the year before.
As we all know, Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 2 smartphone in China which will go on sale on 9 January. The smartphone is packed with a 4.7 inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 resolution, 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor alongwith 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera and is powered by a 2200mAh battery.
