Xolo, at an event held in New Delhi today, unveiled its brand new Play 8X-1000 handset. The biggest feature that the handset offers out of the box is the new HIVE interface from Xolo that promises improved user experience.
Before heading on to the main device, it is customary to say a thing or two about the new HIVE UI. Apparently, it is Xolo's proprietary user interface platform, which runs over Android. You can read more about the HIVE UI here.
As you may have expected already, the UI has been built on the lines of Xiaomi's MIUI and features customized UI elements including themes, a new launcher, widgets, customized system apps that offer additional features. There's even the ability to connect with Xolo's software development team to offer feedback.

The new Xolo 8X-1000 is powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek MT6592M octa-core processor and 2GB RAM and comes with 16GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.
Priced at Rs. 13,999, the handset sports an 8MP rear camera with Exmor R sensor and 2MP front camera, and comes with a 1,920mAh battery. And as far as connectivity is concerned, the phone supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Wi-Fi Direct.
But while all the numbers and specs seem good enough, what are the basic features the handset will be offering straight out of the box? We take a look at its top features.
As we mentioned before, Xolo's new 8X-1000 comes with 2GB RAM and an internal memory of 16GB that is expandable up to 32GB. This means users will have adequate space and operational efficiency for all the varied needs.
Forget dual and quad core. This new Xolo handset comes with the power of 8 cores inside it. The device, itself, is powered by true Octa-Core that operates at 1.4 GHz.
As expected from a device of this calibre, the Xolo 8X-1000 has been fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for a toughened exterior. The device's thin side bezels give you easy handling and make sure it's a perfect fit in your hands.
The XOLO 8X-1000 supports vibrant visuals in full detail on a 12.7 cm (5) wide screen, equipped with HD display and Asahi Dragontrail glass to protect the device from any scratch and damage.
This new Xolo handset is equipped with an 8MP rear camera with Exmor R sensor. This aids you in capturing low light images with amazing clarity. Its f/2.0 aperture also captures more light to produce stunning outputs. There's also a 2MP front facing camera.
