Xolo is one those Indian handset makers that are expected to make it big in the native market. The company is known for keeping on track with others in the market and releasing its own smartphones. However, it seems like the company is taking a few cues out of that of Chinese handset maker Xiaomi.
Xolo was anyway in news for details regarding the release of its brand new HIVE interface for the handsets that are to be released by the company in the coming days. Now the reports have actually emerged to be true with the new interface now finally in the open.
At an ongoing event that's being held in New Delhi, Xolo has officially announced the launch of HIVE, its proprietary user interface platform. The new HIVE interface is currently set to be made available starting today via the company's newest octa-core handset: The Xolo Play 8X-1000.
"We are excited to announce HIVE to out Xolo customers. Built on an Android core, HIVE is a 'Made in India, Made for India' platform designed by our Software Design Centre at Bangalore. With user empowerment at its core. HIVE enables users to contribute creatively to the platform, taking smartphone personalization to The Next Level," said Vishal Sehgal, Co-founder & Director, Lava International, commenting on the new launch.
So What does HIVE bring along?
Apparently, HIVE has been built post extensive consumer research and usage patterns study across India. Each feature of HIVE has been designed to offer ease of use and flexibility. HIVE is also set to allow users to join in and become a part of the development team by sharing their ideas.
The HIVE launcher basically categorizes apps based on time, usage type or alphabetically for easy access. Apart from that, the company has also developed new widgets for the music player, calls, and messages and also has a one-touch RAM cleaner, which clears all background apps with just a click.
Another big feature that's arriving with the HIVE launcher is EDGE. EDGE is basically meant to bring creative communities closer to users. The features provides "a platform for emerging artists in various genres to design exclusive content as themes, ringtones and wallpapers."

HIVE comes with a range of wholesome Themes that blend themselves perfectly to the minutest detail. The Themes blend in all the aspects of the phone ranging from the lock screen to system wide controls.
HIVE Launcher makes management of applications as easy as possible via distinct filters for categorization. The Launcher also comes equipped with one touch RAM cleaner that clears background applications to free RAM space.
The Connect is basically an one-of-a-kind platform that fosters and encourages collaboration. The feature allows like minded technology enthusiasts partner with the company. The best ideas that are voted up by the community are chosen by the company, which then are rolled out as updates.
HIVE comes with a stylish set of Controls that are based on real life actions. The conventional straight line bar slider gives way to the sleeker looking circular controls. Also, the Quick Settings option include a toggle switch that lets you alternate between dual SIM cards for calls and messages.
The updated Gallery for HIVE provides distinct album views by source and category, unique quilt view within albums, powerful editing tools and filters. The gallery also allows syncing with your online albums from various sources.
The HIVE-based contacts feature is a simple way of keeping in touch with your friends, family and colleagues via Gmail & Facebook sync. The feature offers unified view of the message threads and the call logs of every contact.
HIVE has also introduced an improvement or two for the in-device camera. The Camera has been designed to capture vivid pictures with a single click. Its provides a wide range of configurable controls like ISO, Exposure or White Balance for professional photographers.
