With Samsung and Micromax may end up being powerful brands in the smartphone market, but there's still room for yet another strong player. Of course, it's so easy to ignore other popular brands.

That includes, Xolo, whose performance in the recent past had been low compared to other rival brands. Nonetheless, Xolo plans to comeback in a big way, and the newly launched Opus 3 could be a chosen weapon.

Xolo Opus 3 With 5 Inch Screen, 5MP Front Camera Launched at Rs 8,499

Xolo on Friday launched its latest mid-end smartphones that runs on Google's Android mobile OS. Dubbed as the Opus 3, the 5-inch HD smartphone is available for Rs. 8,499.

Clearly, Xolo Opus 3 is projected as an entertainment device. It has got a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.

While the basic spec sheet remains an average affair, Xolo, meanwhile, is catering the device at the so called selfie crowd. That's because the handset comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, with with 88 degree wide-angle lens, flash and BSI Sensor.

On the other hand, the phone offers an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter with Sony Exmor R Sensor and dual flash for superior quality images, even in low-light conditions, as per the official press release.

Other highlights of the Xolo Opus 3 include a modest 1GB of RAM; 8GB of native storage; microSD card support; Dual-SIM; 2500mAh battery; Android 4.4 KitKat.

Xolo Opus 3: Our take

Xolo, as with all of the other players, continues to face significant challenges, with Xiaomi and Motorola continues to perform significantly better compared to their arch rivals.

In case of the Opus 3, there are usual problems attached to it. Firstly, the hardware factor won't make a huge difference to users these days. Secondly, the integration of the right software and hardware is what matters at the end. Hence, consumers would be less interested in picking the Opus 3 over the Redmi Note.
