Xperia Neo Features Vs Xperia Play : A Mighty Duel From Sony Ericsson
They have recently added new members to the Xperia family by launching the Xperia Play, Xperia Pro and Xperia Neo during the MWC 2011. It is a tough choice for users to pick up one among the three. Let us have a comparative look at the Xperia Neo features and Xperia Play.
Of the features, The Xperia Neo is a high end and top of the line Smartphone while the Play is a pure adrenaline rushing gaming device. But both the phones are superb devices and promise to provide a Value for Money experience and bolster Sony Ericsson into top spot in the mobile handset market.
To begin with, the Xperia Neo features has an 8.1 Mega Pixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3 Mega Pixel front camera for video calling. The Play however has a 5 Mega Pixel rear camera with LED flash and the same 0.3 Mega Pixel front camera for video calling. Both have video recording and digital zoom options but the Xperia scores in the video department because it offers high definition 720p video recording compared to the VGA recording of the Play.
The Play being a pure gaming phone has a larger 4.0 inch display that is LED backlit and is a capacitive touch screen based one. The Xperia Neo features also sport the same touch screen configuration but a smaller 3.7 inch display. Both the phones run on Android Gingerbread OS and thus provide a smart and user friendly interface with well laid out menu"s and tabs.
On the connectivity and communications front both the phones offer all the latest technologies such as high speed 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and Wi-Fi. The phones are also equipped with 2G communication technologies such as GPRS and EDGE.
Both the phones score well in the entertainment section as they provide playback of media files in a wide variety of formats including high definition h264 video format.
The Play though has a sliding gamepad which suits its gaming performance and it has support for higher graphics and 3D images.
Now the pricing issue arises. The Xperia Neo is priced at Rs 23,790 and the Play at Rs 28,990. It is extremely difficult to pick a winner from these two. If you want a high end gaming phone then go for the Xperia Play or if you need a Smartphone then go for the Xperia Neo.
