Zen Ultraphone 701 HD Launched at Rs 11999: Top 5 Budget Quad Core Rivals
In January 2013, Micromax came up with its phablet offering - A116 Canvas HD and sizzled the tech space in the country. Following it, several companies have started coming up with their own phablets that are also equipped with similar high-end specs in order to cope up with the competition.
One of the budget tech manufacturers in India, Zen has launched a slew of Android devices in the country. Now, the company has forayed into the phablet market with the launch of Ultrafone 701 HD at Rs 11,999. The phablet houses a quad core processor as the Canvas HD.
Zen Ultrafone 701 HD - Key Specifications
Specwise, Ultrafone 701 HD features a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, 3.2MP front camera, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and a 2,000 mAh battery.
As recent market surveys have analyzed that the Android 4.1 and 4.2 versions of Jelly Bean operating system is being largely adopted, several Jelly Bean models have started appearing in the market. Moreover, the study claims that the platform is present in over 10% of active hardware globally.
Eventually, the low cost tech manufacturers have started adopting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on to their budget smartphones and tablets. However, some vendors including Zen have also launched new devices or upgraded their offerings to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Recently, the Indian smartphone arena has witnessed several such launches from both global and native manufacturers. By launching a Jelly Bean based quad core phablet, even Zen has entered the fiery quad core phablet arena in the country. Micromax Canvas HD packs a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a 2,100 mAh battery.
The handset is priced at Rs 14,499 and is still witnessing some controversies regarding its availability. Meantime, Zen Ultraphone 701 HD comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean at a lesser price tag.
Karbonn Titanium S5
Karbonn Titanium S5 boasts a 5 inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and a 2,000 mAh battery.
Both Karbonn Titanium S5 and Zen Ultraphone 701 HD are priced similarly at Rs 11,999, but the Zen offering has a better display with HD resolution and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Wickedleak Wammy Titan 2
Wickedleak Wammy Titan 2 packs a 5.3 inch qHD IPS multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MT6589 processor with Power VR SGX544MP GPU, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 12MP rear camera with LED flash and support to Panoramic Shot, 5MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS, 3G and a 2,300 mAh Li-Ion battery offering a decent backup.
Wammy Titan 2 is priced at Rs 13,990 and has received the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean upgrade. Hence, the Zen Ultraphone 701 HD priced at Rs 11,999 could be a better phablet with HD display.
Lava Xolo A1000
Lava Xolo A1000 packs a 5 inch HD IPS OGC capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable storage support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, micro USB 2.0 and a 2,100 mAh battery of undisclosed backup.
Xolo A1000 is priced at Rs 13,999, but Zen Ultraphone 701 HD is priced lesser at Rs 11,999 and boasts a better front camera, hence, it could be a stiff competitor.
Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore
Aqua Wonder Quadcore features a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, 3G, micro USB 2.0 and a 1,800 mAh battery delivering up to 3.5 hours talk time and 3 days of standby.
With a price tag of Rs 9,990, the Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore is definitely a budget phablet, but the Zen Ultraphone 701 HD is a better one with better offering including improved display, enhanced battery backup and good camera perfornance.
