Zopo is one of the Chinese phone maker which is making constant efforts to place a strong foothold in the global market now. The company has already launched tonnes of Android smartphones in the past one year and now Zopo has come up with a new handset powered by Mediatek True Octa Core MTK6592 processor - Zopo ZP998.

Zopo ZP998 comes with the screen size of 5.5 Inches and that too with the 1080p resolution. The screen size is the best as per the choice of the customers of the Asian countries (specified by IDC data) and more the resolution is also the best. At the same time, the handset runs on the Android version of 4.2 (Jelly bean) with the help of 2GB of RAM which is good enough to provide the lag-less experience for the users.

Also, the display of the device is protected by Gorilla Glass or not, its not confirmed at the moment, however a traditional protective coating is there on the phone. Further, Zopo ZP998 will be available in 2 variants of 16GB, 32GB along with a microSD slot for 64GB expansion.

The new thing which can be noticed this time is the voice command application named as ‘BE voice' which will help the user to operate the basic function of the phones with the help of voice commands. Rear or the primary camera is 14MP and 5MP camera is available on the front panel. So, obviously the specifications of the camera is also very good.

Further, with the dimensions of 151.4 x 76.1 x 9.1 mm and weight(including battery) of 150g, Zopo ZP998 comes with a 2400 mAh battery, Dual SIM support and other connectivity options are common including NFC, Bluetooth and others but this smartphone also supports 4G. Though 4G is not much popular in India but 4G is not very far for the smartphone users.

Zopo ZP998 looks to be decent enough to try as it also comes with some remarkable UX features including Samsung's AirView gesture, GPU Mali-450MP4 (700 MHz) for powerful media and gaming experience and dedicated camera button and more.

What About Competition?

Currently, Gionee is one more China based smartphone maker which is releasing outstanding devices. Their new flagship device including th Elife E7 is a recent example, which is packaged with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 along with all the best specification of 16MP camera and FHD screen. This devices for sure will give a tough fight to Nexus 5 when available in India. Relatively, Intex has already announced about the new True Octa Core device and now Zopo following the same lead has done the same.

Mediatek True Octa Core MTK6592 is the new Octa Core Processor which will work at the frequency of 1.7 GHz. This processor is considered to be the most powerful processor for the Android smartphones and there is huge demand in the market for such smartphones.

Tech analysts are expecting the new flagship devices to be equipped with new Android 4.4 Kitkat (though any other phone apart from Nexus cannot use the ‘OK Google' feature). Another reason for this can be that Kitkat has been especially designed to be integrated with the devices having low hardware configuration (nearly 512MB RAM). But if Zopo ZP998 hits Indian market, it may pose a great threat to the existing competent smartphones surviving in the market at budget price points. As it just got released in the US at a price of $299 (Rs 18,645 approx.)
