LG W30 Pro: Review

Pros
  • Stock Android
  • 4,000 mAh battery
  • USB Type-C Port
Cons
  • Low-Resolution Display
  • Plastic Build Quality

LG W30 Pro: Design

The LG W30 Pro is the latest and the most powerful smartphone from LG's new W lineup of smartphones. Just like the W30 and the W20, the LG W30 Pro has a plastic unibody design with a gradient back panel that gives the device a premium look. At the front, the phone has a 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. The phone looks modern as it features a water-drop notch at the top of the display with a thick bezel at the bottom portion of the screen.

LG W30 Pro: Hardware Performance

The LG W30 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 632 SoC, which is a mid-tier processor with octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. The chipset is clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 can handle most of the low fidelity games without any issue. However, when it comes to titles like PUBG it is advised to lower the graphics setting to medium to offer better gaming experience.

LG W30 Pro: Camera Performance

The LG W30 Pro has a triple camera setup at the back with a 13MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. Besides, the phone also has a 16MP selfie camera with support for Face Unlock. The phone can take good looking photos in well-lit conditions. However, one needs to have steady hands to take the same as the phone does not have OIS. The main camera and the selfie camera can record 1080p videos at 30fps.

LG W30 Pro: Price To Performance Ratio

The LG W30 Pro is priced aggressively as the phone retails for Rs. 12,490 in India. This is great pricing, especially for a phone that comes from a reputed brand like LG. However, if you are ready to get a better speed phone a wide range of Chinese smartphone makers offers the same. This is the phone for those, who are looking for a new device that can handle normal day-to-day tasks without any issue. Plus, the phone definitely has a brand value compared to the competition.

LG W30 Pro: Important Features/Highlights

The LG W30 Pro is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery and the phone does have a USB Type-C for fast charging and data syncing, which is not a usual thing on a phone of this budget. Besides, the phone also runs on a stock version of Android 9 Pie with minimal bloatware. If you don't want to get a phone with a third-party UI and want to phone with stock Android experience, then the LG W30 Pro is the device to get.

LG W30 Pro: Verdict

After losing its grip in India the company is finally back with a good device. Though it is not the best phone under Rs. 13,000 in India, it is one of the best smartphones without a doubt. With stock Android UI and robust after-sale support from LG, this is a very interesting device without a doubt. However, if you are hardware conscious, then phones from Realme and Redmi should sound like an interesting option.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
