LG W31 Design

The LG W31 joins the league of the company's budget smartphone portfolio. The device is launched with a basic design with the rear panel offering a gradient surface. The camera setup at the back is positioned vertically on the top-left and has three sensors. Moving to the front, the LG W31 is equipped with an LCD display that measures 6.52-inches. The FullView panel delivers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 20:9. There is a dewdrop notch for the selfie camera. The handset can stream 720 p videos on online platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, and others. Overall, the handset bears a regular design which we have seen on other budget smartphones as well.

LG W31: Hardware Performance

The LG W31 gets its power from the MediaTek Helio P22 processor. This entry-level chipset is clubbed with IMG PowerVR GE8320 and has a clock speed of 2 GHz. The device is designed to take care of the generic tasks such as calling, web surfing, media playback, and others with ease. Don't expect a refined performance with high-end games such as Asphalt 9. To handle multitasking, the device is packed with 4GB RAM. It has a native storage capacity of 64GB, however, the handset also has a provision for storage expansion via microSD card. You can use up to 512GB microSD card.

LG W31: Price To Specs Ratio

The LG W31 is launched in a single configuration, i.e, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. It can be purchased for Rs. 10,990 in the country. The pricing is fair looking at the spec-sheet. But, there are several other options; specifically from the Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo that retail under Rs. 10,000 price tag and are equipped with some good set of internals.

LG W31: Camera Performance

The LG W31 uses a triple-lens rear camera module for imaging. The vertical camera setup has a 13MP primary lens with PDAF. The main lens is accompanied by a 5MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and an additional 2MP sensor for depth mapping. The setup is decent for basic photography. To click selfies and for video calls, the device gets an 8MP camera at the front.

LG W31: Important Highlight/ Features

The LG W31 gets its power from a 4,000 mAh battery unit. The handset comes void of any fast charging technology and ships with standard charging speeds. The handset runs on the Android 10 OS. For securities, it gets a fingerprint scanner at the back panel.

LG W31: Verdict

The LG W31 comes as just another new face in the crowd of budget smartphones. It packs a decent set of hardware, however, the processor seems underrated considering the price tag. The Realme Narzo 20A is one the rivals of the LG W31 and has better features to offer. If only the pricing would have been kept on the lower end of the spectrum, it would have made for a better deal.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
