Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Design

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite is an entry-level Android smartphone from Moto with a bit of modern touch. This is the most affordable triple camera smartphone from Motorola with a water-drop notch style 6.5-inch display at the front, offering HD+ resolution. The Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite is made entirely out of plastic and the display is protected by a 2.5D curved tempered glass. For a phone that costs less than Rs. 10,000, the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite looks premium with its dual-tone body design.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Hardware Performance

The Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite features the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, a mid-range processor with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion along with dual nano-SIM card slots with support for 4G LTE and VoLTE on both slots. The device handles normal day-to-day tasks like web browsing, social media, and video streaming without any issue. Similarly, the smartphone can also be used to play games like PUBG Lite as well. The phone won't have any issues concerning normal usage. However, due to hardware limitations, the device is not meant for heavy gaming.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Camera Performance

The Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite has a triple camera setup at the back with a 16MP primary sensor along with dual 2MP sensors with an f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone does have an 8MP selfie camera with support for 1080p video recording. In day-light situations, the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite can take photos with lots of detail and a good dynamic range. Though it has a triple camera setup, the smartphone does not have a dedicated telephoto or an ultra-wide-angle lens, which is a bummer.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Price To Specs Ratio

The Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite comes in a single variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and the device retails for Rs. 8,999, making it the most affordable triple-camera smartphone from the brand. Similarly, the device does have best-in-class hardware that can easily handle normal tasks without any issue. The smartphone also offers a physical fingerprint sensor at the back of the smartphone and also water-resistant. Unlike some of the recently launched flagship Motorola smartphones, the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite seems like a great device.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Important Features/Highlights

The Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery and the phone also supports fast charging. However, it still uses a micro USB port, which is one of the downsides of the device. The phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack and it runs on stock Android 9 Pie. And the smartphone is expected to receive an Android 10 OS update as well. Then, the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite has a triple camera setup, even though it is not a very practical implementation, it is still great to have this feature on a phone of this class.

Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite: Verdict

Overall, the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite seems like a well balanced entry-level Android smartphone. Brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, and Vivo might offer phones with slightly better hardware at this price tag. However, if you want a phone with stock Android OS, then the Motorola Moto G8 Power Lite is one of the very few options under Rs. 9,000.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
