Oppo Reno2: Design

The Oppo Reno2 is the latest smartphone from the company with a shark fin selfie camera. Just like the original Oppo Reno, the smartphone has a premium finish with an all-glass unibody design. The smartphone looks premium and one of the best looking Oppo smartphones till date.

At the front, the phone has a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. The device also has an in-display fingerprint sensor, protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass.

Oppo Reno2: Hardware Performance

The Oppo Reno2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC, and is one of the first smartphones to launch in the country. The chipset comes with Adreno 618 GPU, which offers better performance compared to the other mid-tier smartphones.

The device is also capable of playing games like PUBG and Fortnite at the highest graphics settings. Similarly, the smartphone can handle normal day-to-day tasks like browsing social media apps, watching videos without any issue.

Oppo Reno2: Camera Performance

The Oppo Reno2 comes with a quad-camera setup at the back with a 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 13MP telephoto lens. Besides, the phone has a 16MP selfie camera with support for face unlock and 1080p video recording.

The most important aspect of the Oppo Reno2's camera is the support for 20x hybrid zoom. The main camera also supports 4K video recording and slow-motion video recording.

Oppo Reno2: Price To Specs Ratio

The Oppo Reno 2 retails for Rs. 36,990 in India, which makes it a bit expensive smartphone. The Redmi K20 powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC is priced at Rs. 21,999 and the performance difference between the Snapdragon 730 and the 730G is not that far.

Though it offers a futuristic and premium design with the latest specifications, the smartphones cost more than the flagship model. In fact, the original Oppo Reno retails for Rs. 39,999 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Oppo Reno2: Important Features/Highlights

The Oppo Reno2 comes with an almost bezel-less display, which makes it a great device to watch multi-media content. Similarly, the phone also has a highly capable quad-camera setup wit ha 48MP Sony IMX 586 camera sensor, that uses pixel binning tech to take 12MP images under normal scenarios.

The device is fueled by a 4000 mAh battery, backed by VOOC 3.0 fast charging via USB Type-C port. The device also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is also a dealbreaker for some users.

Oppo Reno2: Verdict

The Oppo Reno2 is definitely one of the most premium-looking smartphones from the company. The device has a highly capable upper mid-tier processor and the entry-level model comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, making it future-ready.

However, for the asking price, there are a lot of options in the market with much better specifications and software experience. This is for those, who like to own a smartphone only based on the looks that can handle normal day-to-day tasks without any issue.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
