Samsung Galaxy M01: Design

The Samsung Galaxy M01 is the latest entry-level smartphone from the South Korean tech company and is also one of the most affordable smartphones within the M series. Just like every other smartphone from this series,  the device has a plastic polycarbonate body and the device is available in various color options. The phone offers a compact 5.7-inch screen with 720p resolution along with a water-drop notch or an Infinity-V notch. There is a bit of chin at the bottom part of the device and it increases the screen-to-body ratio ever so slightly.

Samsung Galaxy M01: Hardware Performance

The Samsung Galaxy M01 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device also has a dedicated microSD card for additional storage expansion and it also accepts two nano-SIM card slots with support for 4G LTE and VoLTE on both slots. As per the performance, the device can handle normal tasks like browsing the web, watching videos, and surfing through social media apps with ease. As the phone is based on an entry-level processor it might not offer good gaming performance, especially on titles like PUBG and Fornite.

Samsung Galaxy M01: Camera Performance

The Samsung Galaxy M01 has a dual-camera setup at the back with a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait effects. There is also a 5MP selfie camera at the front with support for 1080p video recording capability. Don't expect to get great pictures from these cameras. However, this does not mean that the camera performance on the Samsung Galaxy M01 is bad, as it can take some good photos in day-light conditions. But the photos were taken in low-light and normal lighting conditions.

Samsung Galaxy M01: Price To Specs Ratio

The Samsung Galaxy M01 retails for Rs. 8,999, making it a good entry-level smartphone that can compete against the likes of the Redmi 8A Dual and other budget smartphones. For the asking price, the device does offer a great set of features and specifications. Do note that, there are a lot of devices that offer improved performance and more features and cost slightly more than the Samsung Galaxy M01. This device is also great for people who are coming from a previous Samsung smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy M01: Important Features/Highlights

The Samsung Galaxy M01 is fueled by a 4,000 mAh battery. When this battery is combined with a compact 720p screen, the phone can easily last for an entire day without any issue. Not just that, the Samsung Galaxy M01 is based on Android 10 OS with custom One UI 2.0 skin on top. The phone does have a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack and the selfie camera can be used for face unlocking. Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy M01 does support dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 for improved wireless connectivity across the smart accessories.

Samsung Galaxy M01: Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy M01 is a good entry-level smartphone from the company with a compact display and a best-in-class processor. This is the device for those who like to own a small and compact device that does not compromise on battery life.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
