Vivo S1 Design

The Vivo S1 is the latest entrant in the mid-tier smartphone market. The smartphone incorporates a new design that the company calls it a diamond pattern. However, the back panel is made using plastic/polycarbonate, and the phone is likely to attract scratches. At the front, the device has a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. There is a water-drop notch at the top of the display with a 32MP selfie camera with support for face unlock.

Vivo S1: Hardware Performance

The Vivo S1 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P65 SoC, paired with either 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The phone supports dual active 4G LTE and VoLTE connections. Though the Helio P65 SoC is not the most powerful chipset (at this price range). It is capable of handling games like PUBG, albeit, at a medium graphics settings. The device should not have any issues with respect to multi-tasking,  at least on the 6GB RAM variant.

Vivo S1: Camera Performance

The Vivo S1 boasts a triple rear-camera setup with a 16MP primary RGB sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The main camera is capable of recording 4K videos @30fps, and the phone also supports features like Geo-Tagging, HDR, and Panorama. The device has a 32MP selfie camera at the front with support for face unlock. The video recording capability on the selfie camera is capped at 1080p and this camera does support features like AI portrait and beauty mode to further enhance the selfie photographs.

Vivo S1: Price To Performance Ratio

The base variant of the Vivo S1 is available for Rs. 17,990 in India, making it the most affordable phone from the company with an AMOLED display and in-display fingerprint sensor. One of the caveats of the Vivo S1 is the chipset. Though it is capable of handling most of the tasks, it is not the best chipset that we have seen on a phone that costs around Rs. 18,000. The device does feature an AMOLED display, which makes it a great multi-media smartphone, and the phone also offers an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Vivo S1: Important Features/Highlights

The Vivo S1 is the most affordable phone from the company with an AMOLED display and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone packs in a massive 4500 mAh battery, which can last up to an entire day on a single charge. Similarly, the phone does lack some features. Though it supports fast charging, the phone still uses a micro USB port making it a bit dated.

Vivo S1: Verdict

The Vivo S1 is one of the best smartphones around Rs. 18,000, especially for the fact that the phone offers an FHD+ resolution AMOLED display with a higher screen to body ratio. Similarly, the phone also runs on Android 9 Pie with custom FunTouch OS skin on top. If you are in the market for a smartphone with good display and battery than can last an entire day, the Vivo S1 could be the device that you are looking for.
