Vivo U20 Design And Build Quality
The Vivo U20 is the latest and the most powerful smartphone from the Vivo U series of devices, which will be available exclusively online. The phone is available in gradient finish with a 2.5D curved finish. However, the panel is made using plastic that is likely to attract scratches in the long haul.
At the front, the device has a 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. The display has a notch design with a bit of a chin at the bottom of the screen. Overall, the phone looks modern and fancy compared to its contemporaries.
Vivo U20: Hardware Performance
The Vivo U20 is one of the most powerful smartphones, especially under Rs. 12,000 price range. The smartphone features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion.
The Snapdragon 675 is a highly capable mid-tier processor that has been featured on devices like the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It can easily handle games like PUBG and COD Mobile at medium and high graphics settings without any issue.
Vivo U20: Camera Performance
The main emphasis of the device is on the raw performance, hence, the device does not offer the best camera setup in this budget. There is a triple camera setup at the back of the phone with a 16MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The phone has a 16MP selfie camera at the front with support for 1080p video recording at 30fps, whereas, the main camera unit can capture videos at 4K resolution. The photos taken on normal and medium lighting conditions retain a lot of detailing and even the color science is on point. However, the camera does struggle a bit in low-light conditions.
Vivo U20: Price To Performance Ratio
The base variant of the Vivo U20 retails for Rs. 10,990, which makes it a good smartphone for those who prefer raw-performance over aesthetics and camera. Similarly, there is a high-end version of the Vivo U20 that offers 6GB RAM and 64GB storage for Rs 11,999, which is also a great option, especially for heavy gamers.
The phone has a great design, but it does lack a bit in build-quality due to the plastic build that is susceptible to scratches compared to a phone with a glass back panel.
Vivo U20: Important Features/ Highlights
Besides the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, the phone also packs an impressive 5,000 mAh battery combined with an 18W fast charger (included in the retail box). However, it still uses a micro USB port for charging and data syncing, which is a bit of disappointment.
The phone currently runs on FunTouch OS on top of Android 9 Pie and is likely to receive an Android 10 OS based update in early 2020 with a custom skin on top.
Vivo U20: Verdict
Instead of compromising with a lot of stuff, the company has made a few compromises on some aspects and has offered the best possible hardware that makes it a great phone for those who prefer the phone for gaming and multi-tasking.
This is a device for those, who are looking for a mobile that can last an entire day even with continues usage.
