Vivo V17: Design And Build Quality

The Vivo V17 is the latest V series smartphone from the company with an emphasis on the camera performance. The device has a sleek design though it carries a 4,500 mAh battery. However, unlike some of the smartphones at this budget, the Vivo V17 has a plastic build quality, which is a bit of a disappointment.

At the front, the phone has a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with the smallest punch-hole cutout that I have seen on a smartphone. This is a full-HD panel and it also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Vivo V17 is powered by the time-tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. The phone does have a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 is based on 11nm fabrication which makes it an efficient chipset.

The device can easily handle games like PUBG without any issues at medium graphics settings. However, the phone does struggle bit while playing games with high graphics settings, especially on titles like Call of Duty Mobile.

 One of the unique selling points of the Vivo V17 is its cameras. The phone has a quad-camera setup at the back of the phone with a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the phone uses a 32MP camera sensor with pixel binning technology.

The camera takes some pretty good looking photographs in normal lighting conditions. Besides, both the primary 48MP camera and the 32MP selfie camera supports night mode, that further improves the night light photography. There is also a manual/pro camera mode that lets users play with ISO, white balance, and shutter speed.

Though the Vivo V17 is not the most powerful smartphone for an asking price of Rs. 22,990, it still packs some punch that makes it a unique proposition. Besides, the phone offers some of the premium features like an AMOLED display with punch hole cutout, in-display fingerprint sensor, and higher screen to body ratio.

This is a mid-range smartphone that looks premium and is also light in weight. Besides, it does have a solid camera setup that can take good looking pictures in almost every lighting condition, thanks to the dedicated night mode.

One of the highlights of the Vivo V17 is its 4,500 mAh battery that can last up to an entire day for most of the users. Similarly, the phone does support 18W fast charging via the USB Type-C port, which is also another highlight of the device.

Most of the smartphones do not include a headphone in the retail package and the Vivo V17 comes with one. The headphone included in the retail package are of premium quality and also sounds good.

The Vivo V17 is a great smartphone, especially for those who are looking for a thin, lightweight mobile with a big battery and a great display. Thanks to a smaller punch-hole cutout, the phone feels like an all-screen mobile with no interruptions.

If you are looking for a smartphone that is priced around Rs. 20,000, then the Vivo V17 is definitely a great choice for multi-media consumption and photography. However, if you are looking for a high-performance smartphone, then there are a lot of other options with better processors.
