Vivo X50 Pro: Design

The Vivo X50 Pro is the latest flagship smartphone from Vivo India focused on the design and the camera performance. The smartphone offers a premium all-glass unibody design with a metal frame, offering a lightweight yet sturdy feel to the smartphone and is one of the lightest flagship smartphones of 2020. At the front, the Vivo X50 Pro has a 6.56-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution with a 3D curved design. This panel offers a peak refresh rate of 90Hz and a response rate of 180Hz, resulting in smoother animations and better gaming experience. The almost bezel-less display has a tiny punch hole cutout at the top, offering a higher screen-to-body ratio with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Vivo X50 Pro: Hardware Performance

The Vivo X50 Pro is powered by the upper mid-range 5G SoC -- the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage with no microSD card support. Do note that, the smartphone also misses out on the 3.5mm headphone jack and one has to use the USB Type-C port to connect audio peripherals. As per the day-to-day performance, the Vivo X50 Pro can easily handle every task without any issue. However, when compared to some of the premium flagship smartphones, it still using a UFS 2.1 storage solution, which seems like a bit of a drawback, especially when it comes to read and write speeds, which affect app and game-opening times.

Vivo X50 Pro: Camera Performance

The Vivo X50 Pro's main USP will be the camera performance. This is the first smartphone in the world to incorporate a gimbal camera system for a smooth video and photo capturing experience. The device has a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture, 8MP ultra wide-angle camera, 13 MP portrait lens, and an 8MP periscope telephoto lens with support for up to 60x hybrid zoom. There is a 32MP selfie camera at the front with support for 1080p video recording capability, whereas the main camera unit can record 4K videos at 60fps with OIS and EIS support. The phone does offer a couple of unique camera features such as super clear night mode, extreme night vision, astro mode, and super night HDR.

Vivo X50 Pro: Price To Specs Ratio

Though the Vivo X50 Pro has a flagship-grade camera, the smartphone does feel a little expensive when compared to the other flagship devices in the market, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. For the asking price, the device does offer a great camera experience and a premium design with plenty of storage to save all your content directly on the device. Even if you want to play modern games like PUBG and Fortnite, the Vivo X50 Pro can handle the same without any issue, considering the capabilities of the CPU and the GPU.

Vivo X50 Pro: Important Features/Highlights

The Vivo X50 Pro does offer a premium audio experience and it comes equipped with the Hi-Fi AK4377A audio chipset, capable of offering 3D soundtracking. However, do note that the smartphone does not have a dual stereo speaker setup and comes with a mono speaker unit. The in-display fingerprint sensor on the Vivo X50 Pro is very fast and accurate. The phone packs a 4,315 mAh battery with support for fast charging via the USB Type-C port and the company also includes a 33W fast charging adapter in the retail package.

Vivo X50 Pro: Verdict

Overall, the Vivo X50 Pro is a great mid-range smartphone with a premium build quality and a great camera unit. If you are looking for a lightweight smartphone that offers a great set of optics along with features like a flagship-grade display and fast charging support, then get the Vivo X50 Pro.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
