Vivo Y95: Design

The Vivo Y95 is the latest budget smartphone that offers a gradient back panel. Depending on the light intensity, the phone changes its color. The back panel offers a glossy finish, which might get scratched if the device is not protected by a case or skin. At the front, the phone has a 6.22-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution, which seems like a bit of let down, as most of the phone at this price range offer FHD+ display. The display has a water-drop notch design, which makes the device look modern.

Vivo Y95: Hardware Performance

The Vivo Y95 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone does feature a microSD card slot with support for dual nano SIM capable of offering 4G LTE and VoLTE on both slots. The Snapdragon 439 comes with the Adreno 505 GPU is capable of handling casual games like Temple Run and Subway Surfers. Besides, one can also play games like PUBG, albeit, at lower graphics settings.

Vivo Y95: Camera Performance

The Vivo Y95 has a dual-camera setup at the back with a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor. At the front, the phone houses a 20MP selfie camera with support for 1080p video recording, face unlock, and portrait mode. The main camera offers portrait mode with support for 1080p video recording @ 30fps. The camera can take good pictures in normal lighting conditions. However, the photos start to loose out details in low-light and artificial lighting conditions.

Vivo Y95: Price To Specs Ratio

The Vivo Y95 retails for Rs. 13,990 in India, which makes it a bit expensive smartphone, especially for the hardware that the phone offers. This phone does look cool and college goers will definitely love the design and the asethetics. The Snapdragon 439 is a bit of a letdown at this price range, as most of the phones offer a high-resolution display with a much powerful chipset. The Vivo Y95 is not the most value for money smartphone for the asking price.

Vivo Y95: Important Features/Highlights

The Vivo Y95 is powered by a 4030 mAh Li-ion battery, which is the USP of the smartphone. A bigger capacity battery paired with a low-resolution screen should lead to impressive battery life on a single charge. However, the phone does not support fast charging. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie OS, the latest OS from Google with FunTouch OS skin on top. There is a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, which is fast and accurate.

Vivo Y95: Verdict

The Vivo Y95 is a great phone for those who like to get extended battery life on a single charge. Similarly, the smartphone does offer youth-friendly design, which makes it a modern-looking device. If you are looking for a high-performance smartphone, then, you might not get impressed by the specs sheet. However, if you love a trendy looking smartphone, the Vivo Y95 could be the device to get.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
