Xiaomi Redmi Go: Design

The Xiaomi Redmi Go is the most affordable smartphone from Xiaomi to date. The smartphone features a polycarbonate body with plain design. The back of the device houses a single camera setup and a Redmi logo. At the front, the device has a 5.0-inch 16:9 aspect ratio display, protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass. Just like most of the affordable budget smartphones, the device has a huge chin on the top and bottom portion of the display.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: Hardware Performance

The Redmi Go is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset with Adreno 308 GPU. The processor is clubbed with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage with a dedicated microSD card slot. Similarly, the smartphone also has dual nano-SIM card slots with 4G LTE and VoLTE support on both slots. In terms of real-world performance, the device can handle most of the typical smartphone tasks like taking calls, capturing photos, and using social media apps without any issue. However, the device will struggle while playing resource-hungry games like PUBG.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: Camera Performance

The Redmi Go has a single 8MP primary camera at the back and a 5MP selfie camera at the front. Both cameras are capable of capturing videos at 1080p and also offers additional features like portrait mode and face unlock. Just like most of the budget smartphones, the camera on the Redmi Go struggles in low light conditions, and under normal day to day conditions, the smartphone can take pictures with a good amount of details and clarity.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: Price To Specs Ratio

The Xiaomi Redmi Go retails in India for Rs. 4,499, making it the most affordable smartphone from the company with features like dual SIM card slots. The device does look good compared to the other smartphones in this price range. Similarly, the smartphone also runs on a lite version called Android 9 Pie Go of the Android OS based on Android 9 Pie. The OS comes with the lite version of apps, which requires fewer resources compared to the standard Android apps.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: Important Features/Highlights

The Xiaomi Redmi Go runs on Android 9 Pie Go OS, which makes it a great smartphone, as even with the entry-level specs, the device does not hang while doing normal day to day tasks. Similarly, the device also has a 3000 mAh battery with support for 10W fast charging via micro USB port, and the phone also has a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi Redmi Go: Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi Go is the smartphone for those, who are planning to buy a smartphone for the first time and wants to get all the experiences that a high-end Android smartphone offers. How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
