Xiaomi Redmi Y3 Design

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 brings a very premium and functional design in sub 10k price-point. The company has also added some level of durability by adding P2i coating for splash resistance. Even the buttons and ports have watertight seals for added protection. The new Redmi Y3 is available in three colour variants- Prime Black, Bold Red and Elegant Blue. Based on Aura design technique, the smartphone offer a very ergonomic and functional design. Even though Redmi Y3 sports a big screen, the curved frame and rounded corners makes the handset fairly comfortable for basic phone tasks.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 Hardware Performance

Redmi Y3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, which is a pretty capable chipset for a sub 10K handset. With 3GB and 4GB RAM options, the combination makes up for a smooth user-experience. Please note that Redmi Y3 is not built for high-end gaming. PUBG runs in Low settings by default and gameplay is not as smooth as we have experienced on the company's Redmi Note 7 series handsets.  For a regular everyday smartphone, Redmi Y3 offers a smooth and lag-free performance. You can edit pictures, use multiple social media apps simultaneously and open multiple tabs in Chrome at the same time without facing any major performance slowdown.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 Camera Performance

Redmi Y3 sports a big 32MP selfie camera. The 32MP front-facing camera works on a sensor size of1/2.8" and also offers EIS support to capture Full HD video recording with software stabilization. The EIS at 1080p 30fps really works very well. The video footage was crisp, free of jerks and showed accurate colour tones. If you shoot a lot of selfie videos for YouTube channel, Instagram or Facebook, the 1080p video with EIS support will come quite handy. The selfies captured on Redmi Y3 are also best-in-class. Pictures show crisp details, clean shadows, vibrant colors.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3: Price to Specs ratio

Xiaomi Redmi Y3 has some striking features that make it a very good value for money deal. The smartphone boasts a 32MP selfie camera, big 4,000 mAh battery cell and a dedicated microSD card slot. If you are always clicking selfies, shooting videos with front-camera for social media platforms, Redmi Y3 is a very good deal. However, if you fancy best-in-class display, latest Type-C port with fast-charging and most premium design in under 10K, simply go for the company's Redmi Note 7.

Xiaomi Redmi Y3: Important Features/Highlights

Redmi Y3 offers a massive 32MP selfie camera in less than Rs. 10,000 price-point. The 4,000 mAh battery unit powering up the handset can easily last for one day even with heavy usage. The budget smartphone also offers USB-OTG connectivity and a triple-slot card with a dedicated space for microSD card.

You also get a dedicated card slot and a big 4,000 mAh battery unit that can easily last a day. However, if you are looking for even a better buy, go for Redmi Note 7 Pro’s entry-level variant. How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
