Adidas Joins Hands With ISS To Test Products In Microgravity
ISS which is also known as International Space Station is indulged in performing experiments and research about space and in different fields of science. ISS is a collaboration mission of different organizations which include NASA, Roscosmos, CSA, ESA, and JAXA. It serves as a space lab and allow different space agencies to work together to explore new elements.
However, the latest test from the space station might astonish you.
It has been announced that Adidas the apparel making company is now joining hands with the space station to test their products in microgravity.
Adidas approached the organization after NASA announced that the space agency will allow civilians a chance to board and experience the space station. The announcement was also for commercial activities too. The company took advantage of the announcement to test their products.
On its official Twitter handle, ISS National Lab announced that ".@adidas will send its Boost technology to the ISS National Lab to push the limits of R&D for runners. We're excited to sponsor another innovative private-sector company aiming to leverage the space-based environment to enhance products on Earth!"

"The initial conversations led to the idea of maximizing the unique lab characteristics of the International Space Station, like microgravity, for product research with our background in human performance for athletes," James Carnes, the vice president of the global brand strategy for Adidas told CNN Business.
Initially, Adidas propelled footballs to the ISS and the reason behind sending the ball is to discover the impacts of air resistance when the ball takes a spin. As we all know space gravity doesn't influence the state of the ball and the direction isn't shifted because of air resistance. This test will allow the scientist to focus on testing different aspects of air. This will also help Adidas to design the shape, surface, and material of the future balls accordingly.
Meanwhile, the company will also test its Boost technology with the ISS. To recall, Boost is a foam which is used by the company to make comfortable shoes. The test will help the company to improve the performance and comfort of the existing shoes and might also give birth to an innovation altogether. So in future, we might expect Adidas selling products and apparel with ISS and space tested tags.
