Adobe Max 2025: New AI Assistant in Photoshop, Firefly Gets AI Features, and More

Adobe announced new AI tools, an AI assistant, and more at the Adobe Max 2025 event. The new AI Assistant in Adobe Express is designed to make creativity more accessible by combining conversational creation, intelligent design understanding, and intuitive editing tools.

In addition, Adobe Firefly now gets fully licensed audio track creation, crystal-clear voiceover generation and an end-to-end timeline-based video editor. Here's everything from Adobe's latest announcements.

Adobe Firefly Gets New AI Tools

During the event, the company has launched new AI tools, models and agents in Adobe Firefly. Firefly's new video tools include Generate Soundtrack for creating fully licensed audio tracks, Generate Speech for crystal clear voiceovers and a new timeline-based AI video editor.

Users can now explore the Image Model 5, which generates photorealistic images in native 4MP resolution and handles prompt-based editing in everyday language. The other partner models now include ElevenLabs, Google, Luma AI, OpenAI, Runway, Topaz Labs and more.

Adobe brings Project Moonlight in Firefly – a conversational AI assistant designed to work seamlessly across Adobe's creative apps and creators' social channels. It provides real-time content insights and personalized recommendations.

Adobe also announced Firefly Custom Models (private beta) to creators, available in the Firefly app. Initially, it was available to Firefly enterprise customers Initially available only to Firefly enterprise customers, Firefly Custom Models now enable creators to easily train and personalize their own AI models to generate entire series of assets with visual consistency in their own, unique style.

Firefly's new AI creation tools are now generally available for Firefly customers, alongside Firefly Image Model 5 and partner models from Black Forest Labs, Google, and OpenAI. Meanwhile, Firefly Image Model 5, Generate Soundtrack, and Generate Speech are now open for public beta testing. The Firefly Video Editor and Firefly Custom Models are currently in private beta and are expected to start rolling out next month.

Adobe's New AI Assistant

On the other hand, Adobe's new AI Assistant in Photoshop and Express, redefines content creation with generative tools, conversational editing, and intelligent design support. The AI Assistant in Express turns templates into interactive canvases-letting users generate images, change backgrounds, edit text, or replace objects effortlessly. Now, the AI Assistant beta is available on desktop to Adobe Express Premium customers.
