As the launch of the iPhone 5 is drawing closer, many specs of the Apple's highly-awaited phone are leaking online. Over the past few months, there have been many image leaks and renders such as back panel and internal components. The new parts that were leaked revealed that the next iPhone will be thinner than the existing one and will feature a smaller dock connector, metal design and a larger display.

 

A recent report by 9to5Mac states, “A reliable parts source sent us images of new iPhone battery packs that they received. Notably, these new battery packs sport a higher capacity than the packs in previous generations of Apple’s smartphone. This new battery features a capacity of 1440 mAh

 

That is up from the capacity of 1430 mAh on the iPhone 4S and up from 1420 mAh on the iPhone 4, according to iPhone repair shop iFixYouri, whom examined the battery photos.” It more on the battery, claiming that the voltage of the battery has been increased to 3.8 from 3.7 on iPhone 4 and 4S.

The battery's labeling reveals that it was produced in June 2012, which when the next iPhone component manufacturing debuted. The Cupertino based company has been regularly increasing or tweaking the battery of the iPhone every year.

Moreover, this new battery capacity goes in sync with the rumors of LTE connectivity in the iPhone 5, as it requires bigger batteries as it consumes more power. However, the difference in the battery capacity of the iPhone 4S and the upcoming version is not that great.

Further, numerous reports have also suggested that iPhone 5 will come with a square shaped Home button and might get five rows of icons on the homepage instead of the four and apps would scale accordingly to take advantage of the extra display real estate. 

Also, the much-awaited phone is expected to sport a 4-inch tall screen with a wider aspect ratio as compared to the predecessor. Rumors are also rife that iPhone 5 will come with 9 pin connector. At the same time, ongoing rumors also suggest that the next-generation iPhone would feature Near Field Communication (NFC),1GB RAM, iOS 6, improved Siri, liquidmetal casing, an 8 megapixel (or even higher) rear camera, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting and a much-improved battery life.
